Vision

“The Post office from 1923 is an unique monument in the centre of Rotterdam. For us the redevelopment of the Post office means an enormous challenge. It goes within the directives which apply to a monument, the building. Making it inviting and attractive for the public. We want our vision and design of the former Post office, to deliver a new meaning for Rotterdam that promotes the building as a prominent venue in the city, “lead architect Ben van Berkel. The design of UN Studio includes the public space, a vertical foyer, a realignment of the central hall and a hotel development. Retail functions are prominent in the design; important leisure activities are shopping and social activities form the  components of contemporary urban culture. Moreover space is created for the organisation of among other things events, exhibitions and other public functions.
